Hip-hop greats The Roots hit The Joint on June 8. The Philadelphia group that got its start in the ’80s always takes listeners on a wide-ranging musical journey. They are famed for a heavily jazzy sound and live instrumentation. Current band members include Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter, Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson, Leonard Nelson “Hub” Hubbard and Kamal Gray.
