The Queen Of Country Music

By Whats On Staff | 05/15/2012 | Onstage 0 Comments

Surpassing her idol Dolly Parton in 2008 as the female country artist with the most Top 10 hits, Reba McEntire has certainly earned her spot as a country music legend. During her 35-year career she has released 25 Billboard Country No. 1 singles and last year was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. We celebrate the country music queen—who performs at Buffalo Bill’s in Primm at the Nevada/California state line May 26—with a list of McEntire’s firsts and No. 1s.

From Janis To Lady Gaga

By Whats On Staff | 05/01/2012 | Onstage 0 Comments

When you get home, do you want to tell your friends and family that you saw a show in Las Vegas, or do you want to tell them that you saw five of music’s greatest artists all in one night? At Legends in Concert, you’ll hear—and see—amazing tributes to the stars of pop, rock and classic American standards all performed live with full production numbers that will have you singing and dancing along.

Originating from a radio celebrity look-alike contest, Legends in Concert premiered at the Imperial Palace May 5, 1983 for a six–week trial run that turned into a permanent gig, until a couple of years ago when it moved to sister property Harrah’s.

Saw Blades, Swords And Chains, Oh My!

By Whats On Staff | 05/01/2012 | Onstage 0 Comments

Sleek, stylish, verging on couture and probably something you’d see in the crowd at a chic, post-goth nightclub, the costumed dancers of Jan Rouven’s Illusions are your first glimpse into the world of the German-born magician’s impressive production at the Riviera, but they’re only one aspect. Every detail in Illusions—from infectious Adele and Katy Perry remixes that form a contemporary musical backdrop, to moody lighting and artful dance interludes—is modern. Then, of course, there is Rouven himself.

Monti-Licious, April 17

By Monti Rock III | 04/18/2012 | Blogs 0 Comments

This week, we who are in the entertainment business, along with her family, are mourning the death of a great talent - Michaelina Bellamy. Every time I met her she always had something nice and pleasant to say to me, but she was a drama queen. She was a great singer who once starred in the Folies Bergere and also appeared with Engelbert Humperdinck (didn’t we all?). I hope he remembers me! Remember the incident with the Rev. George Chaanine at Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church and Michaelina?

Ces Soirées-là!

By Megan Riggs | 04/17/2012 | Onstage 0 Comments

The French version—”Ces Soirées-là”—of hit Four Seasons song “December 1963 (Oh What a Night)” reached No. 1 on the French singles chart in 2000. Fittingly, the boys from New Jersey have now made the transition to Las Vegas’ very own City of Light—Paris. Jersey Boys, the Tony Award-winning musical tells the rise and fall, rags-to-riches story of The Four Seasons, switching the narrative point-of-view among its four members, Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi, and featuring the group’s most beloved tunes.
